Our library and archives are open by appointment between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Enquiries are welcome.

Research assistance by Collections staff is free for the first half hour. A fee of $25.00 per half hour will be charged thereafter.

Along with significant collections of operational machinery, natural history specimens and social history artefacts, The Kauri Museum holds extensive documentary and photographic archives relating to the kauri forests, the kauri timber and gum industries. The Museum is also guardian to archives relating to the family histories and genealogies of the early families of the old Otamatea District. These include an oral history archive for the district and business and local clubs and society’s records.
