LOCATION
The Kauri Museum in Matakohe, Northland, New Zealand is a 2 hour drive north of Auckland, or a 1 hour drive from Whangarei. Take the turn off at the Brynderwyn hills (State Highway 1) onto State Highway 12 (towards Dargaville). We are 20 minutes up the road from the turn off. The Museum is on the Ancient Kauri Trail to the Waipoua Kauri Forest and on the Twin Coast Discovery Highway.
Helipad transfers on request.

VOLUNTEERS HALL
Perfect for a cocktail party or wedding ceremony.
The Volunteers Hall with the world’s largest Kauri slab can comfortably host over a hundred people. The balcony surrounds and dual waterfall staircases can make for a dramatic entrance or great viewpoint for the evening’s entertainment. The Hall has a piano and organ.
PIONEER CHURCH
Ceremonies of up to 50 guests.
The Church is set in stunning heritage rose gardens with a view over rolling pastures. The Church and grounds are suitable for intimate ceremonies of up to 50 guests, or as a location for wedding photos. The Church has an organ, beautiful stained glass windows and ornate lamps .
OTAMATEA BOARDING HOUSE
The perfect backdrop to a classical wedding photoshoot.
The two storied colonial Boarding House has many beautiful settings. Adorned with antique furniture, the Boarding House features a romantic staircase and lit double balcony. The Boarding House is right next to the Volunteers Hall so the wedding party can enjoy their photoshoot while guests continue the celebrations.
COMMUNITY HALL
Host up to one hundred and twenty guests for dinner.
The Matakohe War Memorial Hall can host up to one hundred and twenty guests for dinner. This can be increased with the addition of a marquee adjacent to the hall. The hall’s bi-fold doors open one side completely. A performance stage is featured at one end of the hall. The hall has a full catering kitchen with caterer’s access. There is also a smaller meeting room, reception entrance and bathrooms.
